Those who know me, know that I’m an odd duck. I’m 50% right-brained and 50% left-brained. I’m not sure if that makes me a scientific artist or an artistic scientist! But, from a young age, my love for both art and science began to flourish and this website is the culmination of 41 years of honing both of those passions. By day, I practice medicine. By night, I draw and paint. I love studying the body — both its function and its form. How does it work? What happens when it’s not working well? How do I make it better? and How do light and dark affect how the body contours appear? If you move the light source, how does that affect how each contour appears?

About the Artist
I also love to paint visual narratives that have an emotional impact. Whether I am painting about my hearing loss, or about being a survivor, no matter the theme, I seek to evoke the powerful emotions that often accompany us through our life experiences. These paintings are usually abstract in nature, but may also have an atmospheric feel to them.
I work mainly in acrylics, but often add other elements on top of a painting to enhance the telling of its story. Other mediums include chalk, ink, paper, photography, or modeling paste.
